Our Vision
The heart of Arbour Glen is our exceptional team of Educators and Support Staff. Our Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) make Arbour Glen the special place it is. We call it ‘The Arbour Glen difference’ and we look forward to you experiencing this when you visit.
To nurture a community through innovative childcare.
Mission Statement
We are a community that respects the diversity of our children and their families. We enrich each child’s development through our long tradition of progressive programming and care.
Our Team
Your child’s caregivers are knowledgeable, caring, and reflective Educators who provide rich experiences and exciting environments to foster learning and development. Hugs are always plentiful, and your child will feel secure knowing that their caregivers are there to celebrate their accomplishments, help them through challenges and comfort them when needed.
Guiding Principles
We Believe…
That optimal learning occurs when each child participates and is actively engaged.
In building each child’s sense of self and well-being as a foundation for their health and wellness.
In a holistic approach to each child’s learning and development through social, emotional, physical and cognitive domains.
That diversity is to be valued, celebrated and shared with all our children and their families in a way that honours and respects them.
That for staff, ongoing education and professional development leads to best practices that ensure high-quality child care.
In innovation and creativity in our program to provide meaningful experiences for our children.
In a culture that fosters a sense of belonging, builds relationships and engages our team, our families and our community.
In an ongoing commitment to consistently achieve outcomes beyond the minimums required.
The Foundations of Learning
Our Educators are trained professionals who hold First Aid/CPR and Food Handlers certificates. All are life-long learners who participate in ongoing professional development. They understand each child’s potential based on the four foundations of learning:
Belonging
Forming relationships with others to establish a sense of belonging.
Well-being
Developing their physical and mental/emotional health to support their well-being.
Engagement
Exploring the world around them through play, discovery and engagement of their body, mind and senses.
Expression
Communicating through their words, movements and various materials, to enhance expression in all forms.
Our Governance
We are a not-for-profit, charitable organization, overseen by an Executive Director and governed by a Board of Directors. We are inspected annually by the Ministry of Education. Our Board of Directors consists of parent members as well as community members, who are highly engaged and volunteer their time because of their passion for Arbour Glen, the high quality of care provided, and their belief that our success is based on mutual trust and respect for our families. Board members bring a variety of backgrounds, including education, finance, accounting, marketing, and more. A list of our current Board members is always posted in the Centre, and if ever there are any comments or concerns, parents are welcome to be in touch.
